Low EMF iphone settings

Updated: Nov 25

We are electrically hypersensitive, so we ask all visitors to turn their mobile phones off or turn off mobile data, WiFi and bluetooth, if they have an iphone.

Our visitors are often surprised to then see us using an iphone to make and receive calls or texts and often ask how we manage to keep ourselves safe and still use a smart phone.

Well here's the trick....... we use what we describe as "Call & SMS Mode" or "low RF mode" which emits >99% less RF radiation EMF when the phone is sitting idle. It's like having dumb phone functionality with the option to use smart technology when needed. So what is 'Call & SMS Mode'?

To achieve low levels of RF radiation you will need to TURN OFF:

  1.  WiFi - icon must be grey / OFF in settings

  2.  Bluetooth - icon must be grey / OFF in settings

  3.  Mobile Data - icon must be grey / OFF in settings

  4.  Find My Phone

  5.  Find my Network

  6.  Location Services

The phone will still ring, you can make calls and send/receive basic SMS text messages, just like in the 90's! How does this work? The voice transmitter which is still ON emits less EMF than any of the other transmitters that were turned off.

***2024 UPDATE - IPHONE 15***

Upgrading from iPhone 7 to iPhone 15 we found that the iPhone 15 emits the same low levels of radio frequency radiation (RF-EMF) when using the Low EMF iPhone Settings: Call and SMS Mode

Check out these videos showing the Low and High EMF settings for the iPhone 15

To avoid exposure to extreme RF-EMF when in the office, we also divert this mobile to a desk phone for calls and access the internet via an ethernet adaptor.

The RF levels do increase when a call is received or made so additional precautions should be taken to reduce exposure at those times. We use speaker phone, EMF protection devices like airtube headphones and limit the call time. That said, the RF levels will be significantly lower because the WiFi, Bluetooth and Cellular/Mobile data transmitters are turned Off. The levels will also increase when travelling in a vehicle, walking or riding because the phone connection jumps from one mobile phone transmitter site to the next and the radiation levels increase to maintain connection. We recommend Airplane mode with WiFi and Bluetooth off when transiting or use a faraday phone pouch.

When in call only mode some text messages will not be received because there is no 'cellular/mobile data' active. So iMessages, text messages with photos etc will not come through until you turn on cellular/mobile data (3/4/5G). If you use call only mode we recommend letting your friends, family, school and employer know that they should call you if you have not replied and the matter is urgent. The same applies if you did have a dumb phone.

If you have an iphone, you can use Apple Shortcuts to quickly get your phone into Call and SMS Mode after you have been using WiFi or Bluetooth. Sometimes it's a bit fiddly because you often need to go into Settings to ensure they are OFF (not just 'Not Connected') and the Shortcuts makes it easier to get back into that Mode https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/shortcuts/welcome/ios
